New Project to Enhance a Strong Local Public Administration in Moldova
The project, Public Administration, Citizen Engagement (PACE Local) 2025-2029 is funded by Sida and will support the central government in implementing the Public Administration Reform Strategy 2023-30 and assist the country’s strategic orientation towards EU accession.
At SALAR International, we are looking forward to working with the State Chancellery along with key ministries, Bureau for European Integration and the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova on improved coordination of local Public Administration Reform between local tiers and the state, as well as with the e-Government Agency for the continued development of a platform for local digital services, e-APL.
At the local level, the project will support clusters of Local Public Administrations (LPA) to improve service provision with strategic priorities together with citizens, better conditions for accountability and transparency, improved compliance with EU legislation and standards, improved prospects for a gender-equal society, and inclusive local economic development, climate resilience and environmental sustainability through improved local services and infrastructure in energy efficiency, water supply and sanitation.
Crucially, SALAR International brings its long experience in the region to bear to support local engagement in the EU accession process. Together with CALM, and to further EU accession, priorities will be to 1) support in improving preparations at local level and dialogue with citizens on the benefits and obligations of membership and 2) build capacity and provide hands-on support to facilitate LPA access to EU funds.
