WUF 13: Towards a 360° Global Gateway: Building Housing, Infrastructure and Local Economies Through Integrated Local Action

Between 17-22 of May, SALAR International will attend the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan, where we are pleased to host the partner-led networking event Towards a 360° Global Gateway: Building Housing, Infrastructure and Local Economies Through Integrated Local Action.

With SALAR International’s Managing Director Ryan Knox, as facilitator, the event will focus on how the EU’s Global Gateway strategy can be implemented in practice through a comprehensive 360-degree approach, linking infrastructure investments with housing, local economic development, climate resilience, and democratic local governance. Too often, infrastructure is planned in isolation from the territories and communities it serves. This session argues that sustainable impact depends on connecting physical investments with local institutions, service delivery systems, local economies and citizen engagement.

Through dialogue between policy makers, cities, development actors and financiers, the event will demonstrate how local and regional authorities can be placed at the centre of turning Global Gateway ambitions into lasting impact. The SymbioCity approach will be presented as a practical way of operationalising a 360-degree perspective, where its relevance for Global Gateway investments will be discussed, particularly in decentralisation and multilevel governance contexts.

The event will take place Tuesday, 19 May, between 16:00-17:30 in Multipurpose room 04.
