Adopting a holistic approach, the project will work with different levels of government, i.e. local, regional and national level in partnership with Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the Ministry of Local Self-Government, the Association of local self-government units of the Republic of North Macedonia as well as the Municipalities of Novaci, Bitola, Prilep, Ohrid, Kicevo and Plasnica. The conference brought together partners and involved stakeholders to jointly discuss the way forward towards a more inclusive and sustainable future, through circular, environmentally friendly and gender-sensitive approaches within the waste management sector.

We firmly believe that this project will help us to strengthen environmental governance and improve waste management systems across the country. This endeavour is not just about meeting EU benchmarks; it’s about driving sustainable development, protecting our national resources, and enhancing the quality of life for our citizens, says Ms Kaja Shukova, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning.
