Erik Faxgård

Erik Faxgård Hussain is Programme director for SALAR Internationals projects in Ukraine and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He holds a Master´s degree in Sociology from Stockholm University. Erik carries over 20 years of international experience in promoting capacity for local democracy, accountable multi-level governance, decentralisation and public service delivery, working with both local, regional and national levels.

His major background lies in design and implementation of support programs that advocate and enhance institutional reforms for local governments in a wide range of public service sectors and areas. Having worked with many different donors and countries globally, more recent experiences include support to Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Lebanon. Prior to coming to SALAR International, he held several long-term managing positions in development cooperation in Eastern and Southern Africa where he lived for several years.
