Professional profile

Lena Falcón is Programme Director for SALAR International’s project portfolio in Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and MENA Region. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Uppsala University, Sweden specialized in international relations and democratic governance. Lena has more than 18 years’ experience from international development co-operation and has worked with several projects and programmes in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

Lena has extensive experience from designing and leading international development projects with focus on local democracy, decentralization, good governance, public service delivery, sustainable urban development and gender mainstreaming at the local level. She is specialized in capacity and institutional development, including policy development, strategy & organizational development, change management and peer-to-peer learning,

Lena is a goal-driven, analytic and systematic Programme Director, guiding and supporting project teams to deliver results in complex and rapidly changing environments.
